In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Owensby. He is survived by hiswife Mattie Smith McGinnis; daughter, Kelly McGinnis of Old Fort; sons, Kim Smith, Mitchell Smith and Robert McGinnis, all of Old Fort; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Lawrence Owensby and his wife, Goldie of King Mountain, Charles McGinnis, Jack McGinnis all of Old Fort.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, May 16, 2011 at Kirksey Funeral Home in
Old Fort. Following the visitation, memorialization will be by cremation.
