

Douglas Cameron Carver, 90, of Hickory and formerly of Asheville, died Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Lutheran Home-East in Hickory. Born on December 11, 1921 in McDowell County, he was the son of the late John Tinsley and Malla Burnette Tinsley.
Mr. Carver served in the United States Army during World War II. He was the manager for the ICE Service Stores in Western North Carolina. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Hulster Carver. He is survived by his sisters, Daphne Sipe of Hickory, Nedra Hayes of Conover and Christine Roxbourgh of Parkland, FL; brother, John Carver of Hickory; many nieces and nephews; and his Uncle Ed and Aunt Margaret.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Beaverdam Baptist Church in Asheville with the Reverend Daniel Reese officiating. The burial will follow the service at Lewis Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
