Edna Corene Hicks

Edna Corene Hicks, 98, of Old Fort, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2010, while at the Mountain Ridge Wellness Center. Born March 7, 1912, in Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Joe Effler and Darcus Effler. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hicks was also preceded in death by her husband, Romie Jay Hicks and several sisters & brothers. Mrs. Hicks was a member of the Greenlee Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hicks will be lovingly remembered by two sons, Lester Hicks and Albert Hicks, both of Old Fort;

Three grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces & nephews will also remember her lovingly.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Hicks will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 7, 2010, in the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home, Marion, with the Reverend Milton Hollifield officiating. Interment will follow at the McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
