

She was born August 30, 1919 in McDowell County, NC to the late Clemming Morgan and Lizzie Mosteller Morgan. Mrs. Shirlen attended Nealsville Church of God. She worked for Clevenger Hosiery Mill and Ethan Allen until the early 1990’s. Mrs. Shirlen loved the Lord! She was a prayer warrior, always thanking God for his many blessings.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Enoch Wesley Shirlen; two sisters, Ethel Black and Clara Morgan; and one brother, Floyd “Whitie” Morgan.
Left behind to cherish Mrs. Shirlen memory are six beloved children, Charles Homer Shirlen and wife, Mildred of Lynchburg, VA, Leonard Shirlen and wife, Mary of Monroe, NC, Ruby Latham and husband, John of Marion, NC, Betty Shumaker of Farmville, VA, Jimmy Shirlen and wife, Billie of Biscoe, NC and Christine Smith and husband, Larry of Morganton, NC; one brother, Gene Morgan of FL; two sisters, Esther Lawing and Gurthie Hunter both of Marion, NC; a special friend, Cathy Byrd of Marion, NC; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to: New Horizon Home Care, Hospice of Forest City, Carole Barkham, and special friend Ella, for the love and care shown to Mrs. Shirlen and her family during her illness. Your efforts will never be forgotten.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00PM on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, NC. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Nealsville Church of God with Rev. Doug Carpenter and Rev. Jimmy Upton officiating. Burial will follow at Nealsville Church of God Cemetery.
