George Eugene Padgett

He was born June 28, 1934 in Mecklenburg County, NC to the late George Padgett and Hettie Willard Rollins. Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked in construction building houses for several years and then became the owner/operator of Padgett Aircraft Sales. He attended New Manna Baptist Church and enjoyed ministering to others. He visited Autumn Care often where he helped and ministered to patients. His hobbies included flying and antique cars. He was active with the Marion Airport since 1958 and where he was a past manager, treasurer and instructor for many years.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Edward Padgett.

Surviving Mr. Padgett are his wife of 50 years, Patsy McKinney Padgett of the home; one son, Terry Padgett and wife, Alicia of Glenwood; one daughter, Toni Freeman and husband, Charles of Bostic; one grandson, Caleb Queen; and three step-granddaughters; seven step-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Monday, July 4, 2016 at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Tony Shirley and Rev. Charles Dicks officiating. Burial will follow at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery.
