Harold James Reynolds, age 90, of Marion, NC, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.
Mr. Reynolds was born in McDowell Co., NC to the late Delmar James and Nola Baker Reynolds.
He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Nebo and was very active in the music ministry singing and playing guitar. He would share his love for the Lord and music by going to sing for the residents in local rest homes.
Mr. Reynolds served proudly in the US Army and retired after 20 years of service. He served in World War II and had tours in Southern and Northern France, Ardannes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the American Theatre Service Medal, EAME Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars, a good conduct medal and a WW II Victory Medal.
After retiring from the military, Mr. Reynolds kept busy on his farm and enjoyed raising a garden and bee keeping. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by his wife, Annie Sue Clontz Reynolds, his brothers, Wayne, Jack, and Bud Reynolds; sisters, Ruth Ellington, and Thelma Markun.
Surviving Mr. Reynolds are his son, Stephen Reynolds and his wife, Sue of Shelby, NC; a sister, Vivian Banks of Asheville; granddaughters, Sandy (Sam) Gobble, Heather (Brad) Budgick, and Kelly (Shane) Hildebrand; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Freedom Baptist Church in Nebo, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at the church cemetery with full military honors.
