James “Jim” Worth Stacy, Jr., 62, of Marion passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born in McDowell County on November 10, 1947 to James Worth Stacy, Sr. of Marion and the late Artie McIntosh Stacy. He was a lifelong resident of McDowell County and a member of Going Home Freewill Baptist Church in Marion. He was retired from Great Lakes Carbon in Morganton.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Stacy was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Church Stacy; son, Dwayne Freeman; brother, Richard Stacy; and nephews, Neil Stacy, Blake Stacy.
In addition to his father, Mr. Stacy is survived by sons, Todd Stacy of Mills River, Randy Freeman & wife Lynn of Old Fort; brother, Tim Stacy & wife Regina of Marion; sister, Anita Poteat & husband Benny of Nebo; 3 grandchildren, Jamie Freeman, Brandon Freeman, Christopher Freeman; 2 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carolyn Went of Nebo.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 27, 2010 at McCall Memorial Chapel in Marion with Rev. Ray Stockton and Rev. Doug McGee officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion. Entombment will be in McDowell Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Clinical Transplant Program at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Medical Center Blvd., Winston-Salem, NC 27157
