Mary B. Faw

Mary Edna Byrd Faw, 89, of Old Fort, NC, passed away at home on Saturday, December 23, 2017.

Mrs. Faw was born in McDowell County on May 31, 1928 to the late David Roe Byrd and Minnie Hollifield Byrd.

She was a member of Old Fort First Baptist Church and was the bookkeeper for Faws, Inc.

Mrs. Faw was a very caring, loving and giving lady. She was a well respected member of the Old Fort community. Mrs. Faw had a bubbly, outgoing personality and she loved her family, church family and friends. God was first in her life and she served the Lord in the Womens Missionary Union for 65 years. She also taught Sunday school since she was 16 years old and served as assistant treasurer. She really enjoyed flying and had her small plane pilots license. She is going to be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her siblings and a son in law, Tommy Hoyle.

Surviving Mrs. Faw are her husband, William J. Faw; son, William “Mark” Faw and his wife Sheila, of Old Fort; daughter, Susan Hoyle of Marion; grandchildren Sara Faw, Jennifer Hall, Scott Nodine, Stacy McKinney, and Kathryn Hoyle; great-grandchildren Kaleb McKinney, Kinsley McKinney and Charlee Kate Hall.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at 3 PM, at Old Fort First Baptist Church with Pastor Drew Dalton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
