Mary Ruth Tucker

She was born April 16, 1931 in McDowell County, NC to the late William McKinley Twiggs and Mary Jo Moses Twiggs. Ms. Tucker was a member of East Marion United Methodist Church. She loved her church and continually supported them. She always enjoyed helping with the church bazaar. Ms. Tucker was also an avid reader. She cherished her family! She will forever be lovingly remembered by her granddaughter, Kaitlynn, as “Ruthie”.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Luther David Tucker; her sister, Vera Mae Randolph and her husband, Clyde; and her brother, James Glen Twiggs and his wife, Velra; one infant brother, Robert Twiggs; and one nephew, Dennis Twiggs.

Left behind to cherish Ms. Tucker’s memory are two daughters, Denise “Nessie” Marvin and husband, Bob of Naples, FL and Sara Ledsome and husband, Michael of Mooresboro, NC; five grandchildren, Bobby Marvin, David Marvin, Ethan Marvin, Justin Ledsome and Kaitlynn Ledsome; and her beloved poodle dogs, Sissy and Little Bit.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Phillip Tate officiating. Burial will follow the service at Burke Memorial Park in Morganton, NC. Serving as pallbearers will be: Bobby Marvin, David Marvin, Ethan Marvin, Justin Ledsome, Zach Burleson, Jerry Twiggs and Charles Twiggs. Honorary pallbearers will be James Allen Twiggs and Michael Randolph.
