

She was born December 25, 1929 in Yancey County, NC to the late Benjamin and Rellie Wilson Ballew. Mrs. Waycaster was a member of Hicks Chapel Baptist Church and was a former volunteer for McDowell Hospital Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Burley Eugene Waycaster; one daughter, Eugenia Guffey; one brother, J.B. Ballew; and two sisters, Margaret Crouse and Irene Warniker.
Surviving are one son, Alvin J. Waycaster of Marion, NC; two step-sons, Mike Waycaster and wife, Linda and David Waycaster and wife, Pat all of Marion, NC; one daughter, Angela Childers and husband, Josh of Marion, NC; one brother, Archie Ballew of Burnsville, NC; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren with one more on the way; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Hicks Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Wise officiating. Burial will follow at Collis Cemetery in Little Switzerland, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family would like to say “Thank You” for all the special care and support given by Hospice of McDowell County, the staff of Autumn Care and all the numerous extended caregivers.
