Ardith Jay Smith, 80 of Markle passed away on October 10, 2022 at his residence. Ardith was a 1959 graduate of Union High School. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam. Ardith was a carpet installer for over 50 years, working for various companies over that time. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. He was not a man of many words but he was a man of his word. He loved fishing, the outdoors and all animals.
Ardith was born on November 11, 1941in Huntington, the son of Jay H. and Ruth M. (Brumbaugh) Smith.
Survivors include two sons: Nathan (Suzanne) Smith of Markle, Aaron (Tanya) Smith of Hartford City; two sisters: Sonja S. Faust of Weatherford, TX, Cheryl A. Heral of Fairbanks, AK and two grandchildren: Andrew and Austin Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm with military honors conducted by the VFW Post 2689 at 7:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.
