Dixie Ann Thoma Walton

Dixie Ann Walton, 82 of Markle passed away at 6:30am on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Lutheran Hospital. Dixie was a 1949 graduate of East Union High School; she attended Ivy Tech. She drove a school bus for Northern Wells Community Schools from 1969 – 1979. She worked as a medical assistant at various medical facilities, retiring from Indiana Physical Therapy in 1996. She most recently worked at M.P. Smith & Associates as a staff assistant, retiring in 2012. She was a member of Uniontown Church of Christ and was a past member of the Association of American Medical Assistants 12th District.

Dixie was born on March 28, 1931 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Ernest C. and Martha B. (VanAnda) Thoma.

She was united in marriage to Thomas F. Walton on June 10, 1950. Her husband survives.

Additional survivors include three sons: Tim (fiancé: June Doublin) Walton of Markle; Tab Walton of Markle; Todd (Julie) Walton of Sun Lakes, AZ; three daughters: Denise Lenwell of Markle; Karen (Mike) Emerson of Fort Wayne; Kriss Walton of Fort Wayne; two sisters: Kitty Hoopingarner of Springfield, VA; Linda Ratcliffe of Markle; a brother: Danny Thoma of Markle; five grandchildren: Ryan (Laura) Lenwell, Chad Walton, Travis (Jessica) Walton, Weston Emerson, Zach Walton and five great grandchildren: Madison, Reece, Landon and Poppi Lenwell, Kensley Walton and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister: Peggy Roebuck and a brother: Ted Thoma.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 2:00 – 8:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 11:00am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana with Pastor Erick Riddle officiating.

Interment will be at the Uniontown Cemetery in Wells County.
