Gary Don Wright

Gary is survived by his wife, Cathy Davis Wright of Marlin married March 1, 2000, son, Brad Wright of West, Texas, and several cousins. Preceded in death are his parents and brother, Jimmy Lee Wright.

Gary graduated from “old” Waco High in 1969 and began working nights at the Triangle Drive In, later moving to Goldstein Miguel. Eventually on to Schlitz Wholesale Distributing working for Nick Da Maria with his buddy since 1st grade, Steve Snow. 1982 working for Dudley Haas Dist. until moving to Saia Motor Freight April 26, 1995, and retiring from Saia January 29, 2019.

Gary enjoyed life spending time with friends and family for years playing golf, until purchasing a 1962 Chevy Impala SS with a 409 from Ohio Muscle Cars. This purchase began exciting times for he and Cathy during his retirement and her retirement to follow by joining the Heart of Texas Old Car Club traveling to car shows over the past 8 years thanks to their buddies, Jerry and Linda Rogers. Gary and retired friends, Bill McClung and brother-in-law, David Kunze, began weekly visiting at George’s Restaurant #2 sharing their wisdom with Kevin Chirafis and staff, whom they claim as family and to keep the stories top secret!

Celebrations of Life honoring Gary begin Fri., January 19, 5:00-7:00 PM at Adam’s Funeral Home, 129 Coleman St., Marlin, TX; Services Sat., 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 411 Coleman St., Marlin, followed with burial at Hillcrest Cemetery, FM 147, Marlin, and gathering of friends and family for continued stories to share at Marlin Men’s Civic Association, 1106 N. Business Hwy. 6, Marlin for food and fellowship!

Pallbearers will be Bobby Bishoff, Kevin Chirafis, Carlos Gonzales, David Kunze, Bill McClung, Buck Nehring, Jerry Rogers, and Steve Snow. Honorary Pallbearers are Nick Binkley, Mike Davis, Tommy Davis, TJ Davis, Ronnie Griffin, Jack Layne, George Montague, Stephen Rogers, Ryan Orand, Rockny Terry.
