Lamar F. Grote

Lamar Grote, 73 of Riesel entered into rest Tuesday, July 31, 2012. Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 3, 2012 at Perry United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Oden and Rev. Ike Ledger officiating. Burial will follow at Perry United Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be 6PM to 8PM Thursday at Adams Funeral Home Chapel.

Lamar was born September 13, 1938 in Marlin, TX to Fred and Lydia Eiben Grote. He enjoyed farming, watching RFD TV, Swamp People and Billy the Exterminator. One of his favorite hobbies was to collect toy tractors of which he has over 700. Lamar loved going to cattle auctions and his grandkids sporting events. But most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sons Jason Summers and Jeff Summers, daughter-in-law Pam Summers and his brother Donald Grote.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Linda Grote of Riesel; daughters, Abby Gibson of Otto; Ardie Honea and husband Jimmy Robinson; brothers, Harold Grote and wife Sellen of Otto; Darrel Grote and wife Mary of Ross; sister, Diana Thibault and husband Robert of Arlington; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Pallbearers will be James Summers, Josh Gibson, Jimmy Honea, Ronnie Jackson, David Grote, and Richard Brucker.
