

Mary Springfield Hay of Marlin, Texas passed away at St. Catherine’s Center in Waco, Texas on December 21, 2013. Mary Hay was born on September 13, 1927 in Lott, Texas to Chester and Eli Springfield. She met and married Lester O. Hay, Jr. of Marlin in 1948 where they resided there all of their married life. Mrs. Hay was a community leader, and engaged in many and varied actives and services throughout the many years she lived there. She and her husband were long time members of the First Baptist Church of Marlin. Mrs. Hay worked for the Parrish CPA firm and also served as the Deputy District Clerk of Falls County for many years. For much of her life she enjoyed her volunteer work at the Allen House and helped maintain support for this historic house as one of the members of the board and as a director. She enjoyed many social activities with her wide group of friends in both Marlin and Waco. Mrs. Hay was preceded in death by her parents, brother Gene, sister Doris Peevey, and husband. She is survived by her brother Bill Springfield of Temple, Texas, son Lester O. Hay, III (Trey) and his wife Pam of Littleton, Colorado. She is also survived by her three grandchildren and their spouses, Elisabeth Hay Stoll (Thornton, Colorado), Justin Hay (Littleton, Colorado), and Andrew Hay (Amarillo, Texas). Also, she is survived by ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mary was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by all. The visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin on Friday, December 27th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The service will be at Adams Funeral Home at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 28th . A private graveside service will follow. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the First Baptist Church in Marlin, Texas.
