Mr. Redding was born on June 9, 1943 in Conroe, Texas to Fred James and Jesse Joyce Redding. He passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023 in Marlin.
Wayne graduated from Aldine High School. Upon graduating, he worked briefly in sales at Leonard’s Department Store where he met the love of his life, Rose. After Wayne and Rose got married in 1964, he completed schooling and earned his Master Barber license. He barbered in several barber shops located in Houston, Texas. Wayne continued to barber when he moved his family to Marlin, Texas where he opened Wayne Barber Shop. He barbered until he retired in 2020. Moving to Marlin allowed Wayne to have more time to also work the family farm which he loved.
While in Houston, Texas, Wayne became a Mason and a Shriner. As a Shriner, he volunteered at several Shriner circuses and parades. Wayne was also a Scottish Rite and York Rite. A little fun fact. While Wayne was a Shriner, he accompanied Marvin Zindler, of Channel 13 News, of Houston, Texas, when he took the buses to the Chicken Ranch in La Grange, Texas, to expose them.
Wayne was also a Constable for Harris County and Navarro County. After being a Constable, Wayne decided he wanted to do more for others and joined the Texas State Guard where he worked numerous disaster centers.
Wayne rarely met a stranger. All that knew Wayne knew he lived life to the fullest and his way. He will be dearly missed by so many but his legacy will live on in the family he loved and cherished.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Adams Funeral Home with the Reverend Mark Pedersen officiating. Interment following in Hillcrest Cemetery.
