Alfredo Chan-Liongco Bartolome of Marrero, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 after reaching the age of 87 years old. He passed away peacefully within his home with his Beloved wife, Caridad, by his side.
Alfredo was born on October 27, 1932 in Tondo, Manila, Philippines to Asuncion Chan-Liongco and Virgilio Bartolome. In 1952, he married the love of his life, Caridad Gonzalez. They lived together inseparably for over 67 years. The early times were challenging for the young couple; Alfredo and Caridad made many tough choices in those days, including migrating to the United States in the early 1980s with their children.
Known by many as “Tatay Fred,” or “Lolo” by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Alfredo was a strong patriarch of his family, a good friend to all, a man who would give his shirt for a friend. He was a good father who always took care of his children and did the best he could to teach and guide them, a loving grandfather and “great-grand” father to many. A man who never cared much about himself and who even in his final days would say to his loved ones, “take care of “Nanay” when I’m gone”.
Alfredo was a strong, proud and good man. He is loved and will be missed by many!
Alfredo is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Caridad Bartolome; children, Maria Esperanza Bartolome (Anchie) and her husband, Robert, of North York, Canada, Virgilio Bartolome (Iyong) and his wife, Aline, of Prairieville, Louisiana, Maria Louisa Dolese (Liza) and her husband, Kelly, of Folsom, Louisiana, Walfredo Bartolome (Wally) and his wife, Angelita, of Marrero, Louisiana, and Eylmer Bartolome and his partner, Torsten, of Atlanta, Georgia; 8 Grandchildren (Tesa, Alan, Jonathan, Jaymee Lynn, Annah, Ronah, Lloyd, and Dustin); 9 Great Grandchildren (Kiana, Allie, Adam, Kimber, Kaia, Caileen, Caedyn, Erin, Jr., and Angelo); and, sister, Belen Carluen of New Jersey.
Arrangements are being held at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home with a private positive identification. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Please express your condolences through the website at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
