

Amy Marie Zeringue Roux of Luling, La., beloved wife of the late Delmire A. (Ch’Amie) Roux, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 12, 2011. Preceded in death by parents Olive Friloux Zeringue and Henry J. (Jack) Zeringue. Siblings include the late Eula Zeringue Young, Whitney Zeringue, Earl Zeringue and Harry Zeringue and surviving sisters Marie Zeringue Poche (Herbert Poche) and Esther Zeringue Detillier (the late John Detillier).
Mother of Jeffrey A. Roux (Jara Dubroca Roux), Ursin L. Roux (Mollie Sampey Roux), Retta Roux Loupe (Russell Loupe) and Regina Roux Matherne (Frank Matherne).
Grandmother of Cade Roux (Chrissie Manning Roux), Jason W. Roux, Justin D. Roux, Rhiney Loupe Hampton (Dennis Hampton), Rhea Loupe Dufrene (Lance Dufrene), Traci Egle Dufrene (Rickey Dufrene) and Paul Egle.
Great-grandmother of thirteen children: Regan, Reece and Riley Hampton; Cody and Hayes Dufrene; Emma, Lily and Reid Paul Dufrene; Sydney and Evan Roux; Ashley and Jacob Roux; and Gabrielle Egle.
Miss Amy completed her teaching degree at City Normal School in New Orleans and taught returning war veterans under the G. I. Bill, as well as teaching in the St. Charles Parish School System where she taught for 25 years. She taught 7th grade at Destrehan School and 3rd grade at Hahnville Elementary School . After retiring, she volunteered for many years at Mimosa School.
In the early years, her talents extended to making wedding cakes for family. She was a creative and talented seamstress, making many bridal and bridesmaids’ gowns for family and friends as well as creating costumes for carnival krewes and Mary Vezien dance reviews in New Orleans area and St. Charles Parish for over 45 years. She served on the board of Retired & Senior Volunteer Program.
Miss Amy was generous with her time and talents, never refusing a request for help. Her home was a center for family gatherings for many years. Her loving kindness provided a model for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The Roux family would like to express gratitude to the staff at River Region Hospice for the wonderful care extended to Miss Amy during her stay.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Luling, LA on Saturday, July 16, 2011. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and will last until 11:00 AM at which time a Mass of Christian Burial will be held. Burial will be held in St. Charles Mausoleum.
