With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the peaceful passing of Barbara Ann Volion Santini, who entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at the age of 66. Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Michael Santini and the devoted daughter of the late Norris and Blanka Volion. Her life was one filled with love, dedication and an unwavering commitment to her family.
Barbara was a loving and devoted mother to Troy Perez and a cherished stepmother to Aimee Gaudeau (Sidney) and Michael Santini, Jr. She took great pride in being a grandmother to Star (Eric), Blanka (Adrian), Alissa (Gage), Jeremy and Brittany and her joy only grew as a great-grandmother to Sonny, Elijah, Michael, Scarlett, Isabella and Ezra. Her family was her heart and she found her greatest happiness in caring for and spending time with them.
She is survived by her siblings Richard Volion (Ursula), David Volion (Lydia) and Rose Santini Machado (Raul) and was preceded in death by her sister Janet Volion. Barbara was a loving aunt to Ashely, Janet (John) and David (Jolene) and proud great-aunt to Aliya and Lillianna. She also leaves behind many cherished cousins including Moosie Volion (Dot), Kim Townsend (Larry), Jody Oubre (Joey) and Danny Volion (Holly) and was the beloved niece of Daniel Volion.
Barbara shared 13 loving years with her longtime companion, Randy Owen who held a special place in her heart. She was also blessed with deep and lasting friendships, especially with her best friends Monica Williams and Rosilyn Cushall, whose love and support meant the world to her.
A lifelong resident of Lafitte, Barbara dedicated over 40 years to her family’s business, Voleso’s Seafood Restaurant where she worked tirelessly and became a familiar, welcoming face to many in the community. Her strong work ethic, kindness and pride in her family’s legacy were evident in everything she did.
Barbara found joy in the simple things- time with family and friends, cooking for those she loved, and continuing treasured traditions. One of her most cherished tradition was baking the family’s German Christmas cookies each year, a labor of love that brought warmth and sweetness to countless holiday gatherings.
Barbara will be remembered for her loving heart, strength, generosity and devotion to those she held dear. Though she is no longer with us, her love, traditions and memories will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Barbara on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, in Marrero. Burial will take place at a later date.
