Charlie Gene Ward

Charlie Gene Ward, age 80, of Marrero, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021. Charlie was born January 29, 1941. He was the beloved husband of Sharon Thorpe-Ward for over 26 years. Father of Michael Ward and Geoffrey Ward. grandfather of Claudia, Bridgette, Samuel and Benjamin Ward. Son of the late Beulah Mae Ward and James Dee "J.D." Ward. Brother of Sandra Ward. Uncle of Christina Cooney-Briggs. Great uncle of Nathaniel. He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.

He was a proud veteran of the US Army, who served in Germany during the Vietnam era. After his time in the service, he entered the oil and gas industry, where he worked his way up to Pipe Fitter Supervisor. He eventually became a safety coordinator in a refinery. He served as a mentor to numerous people, helping them find the right path. He enjoyed the experiences of his church. He loved riding his Harley, having dinner with his friends, and hanging out with his wife and family. He will be remembered for his sense of humor. As you remember him, think of one of his jokes and smile.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 10:30 AM, so that Charlie can be remembered for the amazing man he was.
