

Darlene Wright affectionately known as Dee or Member grabbed a hold of God’s hand and peacefully ascended into his arms on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at the age of 67. Darlene was born to union of the late John and Rosa M. Wright in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was educated in the Orleans Parish School System and was proud graduate of Walter L. Cohen Senior High School. “Member”, as she was affectionately known, was always smiling and willing to help others. Darlene was a true caregiver at heart. She was employed at John Schwegmann Grocery, Kiddies College, Belle Chasse State School, Wynhoven Health Care / Community Care Center for over 30 years. She enjoyed running her football pool, cruising, line dancing, playing bingo, card games, casino trips and gatherings with her family and so many friends. Oh let me not forget to mention the love of her “SAINTS” she bled black and gold. Darlene was known by a lot of names over the years but the one she adored the most was Maw-Maw. Darlene leaves cherishing and lasting memories to her “number one” and only daughter: Takisha Wright, Grandchildren: Tycen, Imani & Taegan Grant. Siblings: Johnell McKenzie, Barbara Anderson Sylvester(Raymond), Joseph Wright (Sharon) & Angela Wright. Aunts: Willie Wright and Johnnie Welch both of Los Angeles, California. Uncles: Roosevelt, Linel(Gloria) and Andrew Wright all from Port Allen, Louisiana. Special friend Donald Davis. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, friends/members and neighbors. Darlene was proceed in death my her parents: John and Rosa M. Wright, her siblings: Willie and Eddie McKenzie, Nephews: Damion and Jamar Boothe and the love of her life Anthony ”Snake” Francois. We would like to thank her neice Kenyatta Nicholas, WJMC Physicians and the staff at Serenity Hospice for the compassionate care provided. Funeral services will be private. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
