Don was a wonderful person who touched so many lives, including mine. I got to know him personally from Exclusive Fitness. Don was always so friendly and kind to everyone. We shared many memories of him and my Dad. Don knew my Dad for the past 50 years thru JPSO and playing baseball together. My Uncle, Donald Coulon knew him in his early years of Body Building. A great loss to his family, friends and the entire community! RIP Don Anthony Ditta

I truly am at a loss for words, but I will try my best. I first met Captain Ditta in May of 2016. I was just starting out with the Sheriff's Office as a newly hired deputy when I met him while on a tour of the Sheriff's Office Wellness Center. My memories of Captain were that He was a very firm, but fair man. He preached physical fitness for all especially those that served with and under him in the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office. He always offered a kind word and a firm handshake. The very last time that I spoke to him was on October 22, 2020. We were in line to both be tested for COVID-19. I instantly recognized him, spoke to him, and he immediately responded in kind. He asked me how I was doing, shook my hand, and gave me a pat on the back. The first reaction that I had was one of shock upon learning of his passing. His passing has reminded all including myself to truly appreciate your loved ones and the time you spend with them. I extend my condolences to his family and all those who were affected by his passing. Captain Ditta, you will truly be missed. We love you and hope to see you when God calls us home.

The thing that comes to mind when I think of Don is the scripture that speaks of a friend. Proverbs 18:24 MSG Friends come and friends go, but a true friend sticks by you like family. That's what I'll remember about my friend Don who loved God and loved people. See you on the other side my friend.

I’m so sorry to hear of Coach’s passing. He gave me strength and discipline for many years at the gym that have truly helped me to grow and develop as a person. More than that, he was a true friend. I will miss him forever.
To his family, I hope you take comfort knowing he’s with our Savior, and we WILL see him again.
Love you, Coach.
