Dot, age 87, passed away on August 24, 2025, in Ama, Louisiana, where she and her late husband, Alvin Charles “Chalky” Friloux, made their home and raised their family. She was born on November 23, 1937, in Pierre Part, Louisiana, to the late Alton Bernuchaux and Honorine Breaux.
On July 23, 1955, Dot married her beloved husband, Alvin Charles “Chalky” Friloux. Together, they shared 66 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion until his passing on September 11, 2021. Their union was blessed with four children: Robbie James Friloux, Crystal Marie Friloux, Ritchie Joseph Friloux, and Rudy John Friloux.
Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Chalky; her parents; her siblings, Dalton, Alton, and Ivan Bernuchaux; and her granddaughter, Taylor Friloux.
Dot is survived by her younger sister, and Godchild, Katheline Daigle, her four children and her grandchildren Mandy Lynn Friloux, Maegan Friloux, Terri Morgan, Alexandra Miller, Catherine Friloux, Gabrielle Friloux, and Hunter Friloux and her many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will also be deeply missed by extended family and many friends.
Dot was a devoted member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, where she lived out her faith through service. Alongside her husband, she received the Order of St. Louis Medal in 1998 for her dedication to the Church. She was active in the Ladies Altar Society, served in the Perpetual Adoration Chapel, and sang joyfully in the church choir every week. As a sacristan, she took great pride in preparing for masses and serving her parish with deep reverence and generosity.
Outside of church, Dot cherished spending time with Chalky, especially dancing together. She enjoyed playing cards, shopping with friends, and surrounding herself with family and loved ones. She will be remembered by her children for the love and devotion she poured into raising them, by her grandchildren for the memories of sleepovers and shared faith, and by her friends for her warm and exuberant personality, strong voice in the choir, and her care for those around her.
Dot’s life was one of service, love, and joy. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Ama on Thursday, August 28, 2025, beginning at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Charles Cemetary where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Chalky.
The Friloux Family extends heartfelt gratitude to all of those who helped in caring for Dot, and for the love and support they have all received over the last few days.
