Gertrude Marie Benoit

Gertrude Marie Benoit passed away on May 19, 2023 at the age of 92. She was born on September 3, 1930 to the late Honore' and Cecile Himel. Loving mother of Lawrence F.J. Benoit, Jr. (Dale), Darlene Benoit Bearden (Jared Peterman), Elizabeth Mary Benoit Lafrance (Edward), the late Mary Ann Benoit Ramos (Ramon) and Linda Sue Benoit Cox. Proud grandmother of Erin J. Benoit, Ramon Ramos, Jr. (Blanca), Jose Ramos (Jessequa), Monica Ramos Fontenette (Sean), Jerry Ann Bearden, Kelly Lafrance (Ernie), Amie Lafrance (George), Darnelle Lynn Cox LeBlanc (Timothy), Roger Dale Cox, Jr. (Christy), William Cox and the late Dawn Bryant and Ronnie Earl Bearden, II and 22 great-grandchildren. Sister of the late Wilbert Himel, Norris Himel, Pearl Himel McDonald, Grace Himel, Ruth Himel Ledet and Bernice Himel Thompson. Gertrude is also survived by other extended family and friends.

Gertrude was very devoted to her church and enjoyed going thrift store shopping, dancing, telling jokes and assisting nurses at Wynhoven with Bingo night but most of all she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Gertrude was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM and interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Avondale.
