Harold Barnett Locke

Harold Barnett “Barney” Locke, age 71, of Gretna, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026. Barney, as he was affectionately known, was born February 14, 1955, in Stuttgart, Arkansas, to the late Harold Locke and Bobbie Sue Hutson. Barney was known for his warm spirit, generosity, and ability to make friends wherever he went.

A true jack of all trades, he enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, cooking, photography, fishing, and aviation. He dedicated nearly 40 years of service to the Hotel Monteleone, where he was respected for his reliability and strong work ethic. Barney was also a devoted fan of LSU and the New Orleans Saints and enjoyed playing golf and darts with friends. Above all, he cherished time with his family and shared a loving 22-year marriage with his best friend and wife, Olga.

Barney was the devoted husband of Olga Locke. Loving father of Todd (Melissa) Locke as well as his bonus children, Jeff (Heather) and Annie Gonzales. Proud grandfather of Jaahi, Caleb, Megan, Gabriel, Blake, Aurora, and Layla and great-grandfather of David, Aubrey, Mason, and Ava. Brother of Carrie Locke. Barney is also survived by many other extended relatives, friends and his beloved dog, Sassy, and his cats, Charlie and Sophie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Locke and Bobbie Sue Hutson, and his beloved dogs Smokey, Dolly, Mackie, Tebow, and Missy.

Barney will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the warmth he shared with everyone he met. He will be deeply missed.

Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial visitation for Barney on Saturday, March 21 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero. The funeral will begin at 1:00 PM.
