

Harvey Ricky Minnis was born on April 24, 1954 to the late Earl Hillman and Hazel Minnis in Brooklyn, New York. He was baptized at the Morning Glow Missionary Baptist Church. His kindness towards others showed that he knew the Lord for himself. Harvey was married to Rhonda Minnis for 50 plus years. He was blessed with two sons, Harvey Joseph, Jr. and Leroy Griffin, III; and one daughter, Kendra Plessy.
Harvey attended the City University of New York College. He faithfully served in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged in March of 1980. Harvey was a dedicated worker at the Federal Reserve Bank for 30 years. He retired in March of 2010.
Harvey was a sports fanatic. He really enjoyed bowling and was a member of the American Bowling Association. Harvey once bowled a perfect game. In addition, he loved football,basketball, and was a very fast runner. He enjoyed all types of music of which gospel was his favorite genre. Harvey's favorite song was "I Feel Like Going On".
Harvey leaves to cherish his memories his wife Rhonda Minnis; two sons, Harvey, Jr. (Shornett) of Davey, Florida and Leroy Griffin, III (Culisha) of Little Elm, Texas; one daughter, Kendra Plessy of Little Elm, Texas; one brother, Earl Minnis of Wilmington, North Carolina; one sister, Renee Minnis of Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren, Kierra, Majesty, Isaac and Zaria; three sisters-in-law, Patricia Horton of New Orleans, Louisiana, Elaine Seals of Tipton, Georgia and Elsie Smith (James); one brother-in-law, James Parker of Alexandria, Louisiana; adopted siblings, Cora, Orelia, Debra, Clidell, Shirlyne, Ruby, Jerome, Alfred and Ellanese; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Per Kiesha, she states she's his favorite niece.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Hilman and Hazel Minnis; brother-in-law, Claude Parker and adopted mother, Burdia Snow Jordan.
