

Hector Alfredo Boesch Sr. passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016 of congestive heart failure at the age of 75. He was a native of LaLima, Honduras, and a resident of the New Orleans area since 1957. He was proud of his service in the US Army, and became a naturalized citizen of the United States on July 6, 1966. He was an avid soccer player and referee, and served as captain of the Honduran Soccer Team and was instrumental in staging an exhibition game with the Costa Rican team during one of the first professional football game half times held in New Orleans . In 1972, at the age of 32, he suffered a massive stroke and was given 6 hours to live, but he persevered, going on to live another 43 years during which time he earned a degree in business from Delgado Community College. Most little boys grow out of having their fathers as heros, but he only inspired his sons more as they got older because of his post-stroke perseverance. He was the father of Hector Alfredo Boesch Jr. (Jo Anna), Jose G. Boesch (Jeanne), and Eduardo Boesch. Grandfather of Gavin Boesch, as well as step-grandfather of Heather Nguyen (Daniel), Justin Nobles, and Todd Sisung Jr. Brother of Carmen White (Bob), Elizabeth Miranda (Mark), and Loretta Boswell (Gant). Preceded in death by his parents, Rodolfo Alfredo Boesch and Maria Del Carmen Cabus Boesch.
A Visitation will be held in the Parlor of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors will follow at Restlawn Park Cemetery in Avondale. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to stroke research and families.
