

John “Skipper” Joseph Michel entered peacefully into heaven on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his sisters Merriely Michel Bladsacker (Charles) and Nancy Lee Michel. He was also survived by Destiny “Pumpkin” who he assisted in her upbringing. He is surrounded by his loving nieces and nephews, Karen Ann Bladsacker Stevens, Danielle Trondsen (Percy), Shane Stevens, Mia Trondsen, Ava Trondsen and his cousins, Zan Savoie and Doris Michel.
Son of the late Emily Marie Rodriguez Michel and Walter Alvin Michel.
Age 72, a native of New Orleans, LA and a lifelong resident of Westwego. “Skipper” served his country in the United States Army and retired from the Jefferson Parish Water Department after 32 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, his love for horses, fishing, guns, and spending time with his friends at the donut shop in Westwego.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 1, 2014 beginning at 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Monday, from 9:00 am until funeral time. Interment will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum, Westwego, LA.
