Josephine Dufrene Bergeron

Josephine Dufrene Bergeron passed away at home on Saturday, July 28, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Theron J. Bergeron and loving mother of Maxine Palmer (Peter Palmer, Jr.). The daughter of the late Theresa Picataggio and Wilton Dufrene and the sister of the late Roosevelt Dufrene. She is survived by her nephews Brian (Roxanne) and Philip (Jamie) Dufrene and nieces Kathy (Ronnie) Horn and the late Tura (Kerry) Ruiz. Also survived by numerous cousins.

Josephine was born in Morgan City on March 26, 1920. She was raised in Des Allemands and moved to Westwego after her marriage to Theron and remained there 70 years. She drove a school bus for 15 years for the Jefferson Parish School Board. She was a member of the Our Lady of Prompt Succor Ladies Altar Society, Westwego Golden Agers, The Democratic Club and the VFW Auxiliary.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 146 Fourth St., Westwego, LA. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at which time a Mass of Christian Burial will be held. Burial will then follow in Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna.
