Joycelyn Bruce

Joycelyn Ann Knuppel Bruce passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday morning, October 5, 2014. She was 63 years old. Beloved wife of Jerry Bruce Sr. over 35 years. Loving mother of Theresa Comardelle (Darren), Cindy Sassoni (Scott), Dawn Hertz, and Jerry Bruce Jr. (Kelly). Grandmother of Chad Rogers Jr. (Tina), Taylor Sassoni, Bree Bourgeois (Chaz), Slade Hertz, Derrin Lawson, Bowen Bruce, and the late Brooke Rogers. Great-grandmother of Brylee, Chazity, Maelie, Ronni-Lynn, and Laiken Joyce. Sister of Paula Saladino, Chris Knuppel (Rhonda), Gordon Ortego (Mirna), Mari Bruce (Welton), Chris Winter Sr. (Tina), Horace Billiot Jr. (Kristy), and the late Delin ""Flip"" Ortego Jr., and Ronald Ortego. Daughter of the late Betty and Delin Ortego Sr. Also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, friends, and her West Jefferson Medical Center Family. She was a lifelong resident of Lafitte, and a graduate of West Jefferson High School. She retired from West Jefferson Medical Center after 43 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed traveling with her loving family, cooking, gardening, and vintage shopping. Joyce was well known by all for being selfless, always seeking ways to help others in need, and gave generously of her self. She will be dearly missed by all of the lives that she touched. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial from Westside LEITZ-EAGAN, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, on Thursday afternoon, October 9, 2014 at 1:00. Visitation will begin at 9:00 in the morning. Interment will follow in St. Pius X, Crown Point.
