Larry William Dauphin Sr.

He was the beloved husband of his childhood sweetheart, JoAnn Manale Dauphin, for 64 years; father of Larry Dauphin Jr. (Lynda), Donna Dominguez, and Janell Dauphin; grandfather of Justin Dauphin, Brittany Dauphin, Dominic Dominguez, Kade Morgan, and Karis Morgan; great grandfather of Ella Neely, Paxton Dominguez, and Luna Dominguez; son of the late Norman Dauphin Sr., and Theda DeShazo Dauphin; brother of the late Norman Dauphin Jr., and Guy Dauphin. He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.

He was a native of New Orleans and grew up Uptown. He joined the Navy at 18 years old and served aboard the USS Constellation. It was while waiting for that first deployment that he and his high school sweetheart got married, a marriage that would last for decades. After the Navy, he went to work as a longshoreman, and was a member of the International Longshoremen's Association Local 3000 for over 30 years. He was an officer in the Garden District Marching Club and a scuba diver with the Hell Divers Scuba Club in the 1970s and '80s. He was an avid fisherman and camper, who always had a fishing camp, boat and camper. He loved his family and spending time on the water, and was most happy when he could mix those two.

A Funeral Service will be held in the parlor of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
