Lawrence Joseph Plaisance

Lawrence Joseph Plaisance, born on June 6, 1947, passed away peacefully, at the age of 77, on February 7, 2025, at home, surrounded by the love of his family, as he wished. He was the beloved husband of Gwen “Prudy” Pizani for 58 years. Father of Lea Forbes (Richard) and Lawrence Plaisance Jr (Mitzi); grandfather of Hunter Forbes (Layna), Lucas and Liam Plaisance; and enjoyed an ultra-special family dynamic with Cissy (Bernie), the late Ricky, Shaw, Mikey and Layla Couevas.

Born to the late Freddie Frances Plaisance and the late Idola Frickey Billiot, he was the brother of Freddie Plaisance (the late Sheila), Linda Boudreaux (Larry), Debra Richardelle (the late Zyrome) and Vickie Gisclair (Regan). He was raised by his grandmother, the late Louise Touchard Plaisance, in a loving home with his brother, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his in-laws, Lewin and Juanita “Nita” Pizani, brothers-in-law Eugene Pizani, Lewin Pizani Jr. (Donna), and Stuart Pizani, all of which he held very close to his heart. Lawrence enjoyed a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was a life-long fisherman and resident of Lafitte. Playing cards and spending time with his family and friends were among his favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed fishing, music, going to the casino, vacationing in Gatlinburg, and cooking for the people he loved.

Services will be held Saturday February 15, 2025 at Westside/Leitz-Eagan. The rosary will begin at 9:00am, followed by the viewing. Mass will begin at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, an online donation at giving.tulane.edu/memory in his name to help Dr. Sarah Glovers’ research for Hereditary Alpha Tryptasemia would be greatly appreciated.
