Lelya Marie Bartholomew

Lelya Marie Bartholomew, age 72, of Columbia, Mississippi passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Lelya was a lifelong native of Buras, Louisiana. Lelya was the loving wife of the late Pierre Bartholomew, Jr. and the loving mother of four beautiful children. Sandy (Freddy) Amy (Richie), Katina (Lavon), Cherie (Gil). She was the beloved sister of Carolyn Dinet, Linda Dinet, Alfred Dinet, Jr. (Sharon), Andrea Dinet, Tommy Dinet and the late Delia Riego. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren whom she loved very much.

She is preceded in death by her husband of over 45 years Pierre Bartholomew, Jr. and her parents Alfred Dinet, Sr. and Bertha Rodi Dinet.

Lelya was a very strong and stubborn woman who enjoyed cooking and being with her family. She loved the outdoors which she had a miraculously green thumb for bringing all flowers and plants to life. She also loved music and dancing as well as doing the "Mashed Potato". If someone was ill or sick, she would pray the rosary for their immediate healing. She had a long and hard battle with brain cancer but being a strong woman, it took a long time for the cancer to bring her down. Her doctor would say she was a "Miracle Patient".

To honor her memory a visitation for Lelya will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 10:30 AM until the service time at 1:00PM at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA 70072. A committal service will directly follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Avondale, Louisiana.
