Mrs. Loretta Mooney

Loretta Jeansonne Mooney passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2014. She was 72 years old. Beloved wife of the late Don Mooney. Mother of Derek Jean Mooney and the late Ryan Mooney. Grandmother of Jennifer Roquette. Great-grandmother of Abbey Roquette. Sister of Lawrence Jeansonne (Beverly), Mary Jeansonne (Sherry Jenkins), Sharon Nemeth (Danny), and the late Donald Jeansonne and Juliette Jeansonne. Daughter of the late Edna and Lawrence Jeansonne. Also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. She was a native of Bunkie, and a resident of the New Orleans area for the majority of her life. She was quite the talented entrepreneur, and operated several successful businesses throughout her career, from po-boy restaurants to automotive repair shops. Loretta had a heart of gold, and being a very devout Catholic, donated much of her time and money to Catholic Charities and her local parish, Christ the King in Terrytown. She also had a great passion for animals, and contributed to the ASPCA. She will be greatly missed by all whom she touched in her life. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial from Westside LEITZ-EAGAN, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, on Monday afternoon, October 20, 2014 at 1:00. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 5:00 until 9:00, and again on Monday from 9:00 until service time. Entombment will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park, Gretna.
