

Loyd Marion Booth Jr. was born on June 15, 1959 in New Orleans, LA to the union of the late Loyd M. Booth Sr. and the late Willie Lee Bunch Booth. On Monday, May 27, 2024, the Lord called Bro. Loyd Booth Jr. from labor to reward.
He was united in holy matrimony to Norweida Gleason Booth on March 9, 1982 and blessed with two children: Tyralynn Butler and Nieem Booth.
Bro. Booth gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Joseph Congregational Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev Calvin J. Allen. He reunited with St. Joseph C.B.C. in 1995 under the leadership of Rev. Ronald Elloie Sr. His favorite scripture was Psalm 27 and favorite songs were Blessed Assurance and Yes God is Real. He served as President of the Sanctuary Choir, member of the Male chorus, Deacon Board, New Beginnings Vice-President, Sunday School Teacher and Trustee Board President.
He graduated from McDonogh #35 Senior High School Class of 1977. He attended UNO, RETS Technical School and Delgado Community College. Bro. Booth was employed by the Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff's Office from 1981 to 1989 and the US Postal Service from 1989 to 2021. He worked as a LSM clerk, Informational Systems Specialist (IT) and Safety Specialist until he retired in December 2021.
Bro. Booth worked with anyone that asked or needed help. He coached boys basketball at Harvey Playground, he coached the boys basketball team at Nazarene MBC, refereed basketball games for the First District Baptist Association and worked with the First District Laymen from 2001 to 2005. He taught computer classes at St. Joseph CBC for anyone desiring to learn. He made many friends and fans during these classes. He loved laughing and making others laugh. Hardly anyone was off limits to his having fun with at their expense. Bro. Booth enjoyed playing sports. He played with the postal baseball team “The Whip”, basketball teams “Jetts”, “Going Postal” and “Zodiacs”. His Xbox Madden and Call of Duty were his favorites.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Norweida Booth; daughter, Tyralynn Butler; son, Nieem Booth; brother, Kenneth Booth; sister Patricia Kent; brother-in-laws: James (Darlene) Gleason and Raymond Harrison; grandchildren: Kayla and Kaitlyn Davis, Genesis and Nahlej Booth; Uncles: Alonzo (Mildred) and Johnnie (Francine) Booth; Aunts: Myra (George) Johnson, Barbara Steib and Velma Bunch; Nephews: James and Jacques Gleason. Kiere Booth, Brandon (Tatyana) Harrison and Travis Wilson; Nieces: Jameika Gleason, Brayahn (Dwain) Thomas, Brandy (Michael) Fontenot and Braxton Harrison; friend/brother, Roy Woodson and a host of great nieces and nephews, godchildren, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Loyd M. Booth Sr., Mother, Willie Bunch Booth and sister, Cynthia Booth Harrison.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation for Brother Booth on Saturday, June 8, 2024 beginning at 9:00 AM at Greater King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church, 3321 Audubon Street in New Orleans. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 AM and committal service will immediately follow at Restlawn Park Cemetery and Mausoleum in Avondale.
