Nellie Marie Trosclair

With great sadness and much love, the family of Nellie Marie Trosclair announces her passing from this life and into the hands of our Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 5, 2022. Age 95 years, she was born in Donner, LA and a longtime resident of Marrero. Nellie was born January 25, 1927, the daughter of the late Lucille and Maurice Oncale. She was the beloved wife of the late Bennie A Trosclair Sr for 63 years. She was the mother of Carleen Sanford (Barry), Bradley Trosclair (Ann), Keith Trosclair (Tracey), Bennie Trosclair Jr. (Sharon), Terry Trosclair (Peggy), and Tammy Theriot (Jack). Loving grandmother of 18, great grandmother of 32, and great great grandmother of 6. Sister of Louise Woods (the late Sam), Thelma Hunter (the late Carl), and Betty D'aquin (Alfred), as well as the late Ann Bertucci (the late Joseph), Lucy Bertucci (Raymond), Kathleen Ketry (the late George), John Oncale (the late Mary), and Ray Oncale (Felicie).

She will be remembered for her amazing cooking, which took home many blue ribbons, prizes, and other awards. Her grandkids will miss her but especially her gumbo. She was devoted wife and mother, loved fishing, and her husband even named his largest and best boat after her. She grew up the oldest of nine children, and learned humility early. She would serve as the matriarch of the family for many years, and it is a large family. She looked forward to family reunions. Her leadership of the family was marked with an abundance of love and acceptance. She recently stated that "I do not regret one day."

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joachim Catholic Church, 5505 Barataria Blvd, Marrero, on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 12:00 PM. Visitation will begin at the church at 9:30 AM.
