Oliver "Oj" John Blanchard

Oliver “OJ” John Blanchard entered peacefully into heaven on Monday, December 9, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Cecile “Gloria” Aguilar Blanchard of 58 years. Loving father of Karen B. Tucker (Bruce), Patrick W. Blanchard (Renee), Sally B. Tusa (Nick), Becky B. Brown (Charles “Todd”) and Nancy B. Surak ( Brian)

Proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Son of the late Rose Dempster Blanchard and Adam Jean Blanchard Sr. and brother of Barbara B. Salvato (Lawrence), Lelia B. Matulich ( the late Kent), Evelyn B. Scivicque (Carl), Adam “Skippy” Blanchard Jr. (Ada).

“OJ” was also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He served his country in the U.S. Coastguard, a member of the Indivisible Friends Lodge 404, F & A.M American Legion Post 218 and retired from the TP-MP railroad company. A parishioner of St. Cletus Catholic Church.

Age 81, a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Algiers and Gretna for 58 years.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Cletus Catholic Church on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expwy, Marrero from 5:00 p.m until 9:00 p.m and Saturday at St. Cletus from 8:30 am until Mass time. Interment in Westlawn South, Belle Chase Hwy. Gretna
