Randy loves the Lord and found his true spiritual home at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church where he manned the fish fryer at the Church Fair and Picnics, was part of "Come Lord, Jesus" through which he learned to love the bible, the Family Life ministry, the Couples Ministry, the maintenance crew and served as an usher, on the Parish Council and as a Eucharistic Minister during the 42 years he was a parishioner.
Randy was a 1967 graduate of Leon Godchaux High School, located in Reserve, Louisiana. Randy retired from Dow Chemical (Union Carbide) where he worked as an Instrumentation Technician and, after retirement, occasionally worked jobs at Dow and at sites with other contracting companies.
Everyone he met was a friend-a childhood friend, a work friend, a church friend, a camping friend, a neighborhood friend or a new friend. He enjoyed attending Saints, Tulane, and Pelican games, fishing and camping—always with the grandchildren. Randy coached at King’s Grant Playground and refereed for many years with JPRD. His happiest place was spending time in his own back yard with family and friends, a Coors Light in his hands, boiling seafood, barbecuing or smoking meat, and frying fish. He loved good food and being able to share it with others.
Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate the life Randy lived at Westside/Leitz Eagan Funeral Home at 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero on Sunday, December 12th. The rosary will be recited at 3:45 and visitation will be from 4 pm til 7 pm.
The celebration of Randy’s life will continue Monday morning at 8 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 455 Ames Blvd., Marrero. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Restlawn Cemetery, Avondale, LA.
