Renda Leland Besson

He was the husband of the late Betty Besson; son of the late Margaret Forbes and Newman Besson; father of the late Tammy Dronet; stepfather of Kathy Guidry (Tuan), Jerilyn Chauvin (Bobby), Karen Roth (Doug), and the late Denise Cancienne (Mike); grandfather of Glenn, Jeremy, Jennifer, Bobby, Jason, Jamie, Charlene, Brittany, Kayla, Fred, and the late Amy; brother of Ronald Besson (Barbara), Joyce Hebert (David), Kathleen Shipley (Wayne), Judy Johnson, and Gail Oleszkowicz (the late John), as well as the late Larry Besson, Linda Baudoin (Leroy), and Shirley Margiotta. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was a proud veteran of the Louisiana National Guard, and member of the Washington Battery Artillery Association. He retired from Avondale Shipyard. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin on Wednesday Evening at 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and continue Thursday from 11:00 AM until the service. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna.
