Steven P. Zar, Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great‑grandfather, passed peacefully from this world to be with Jesus. He was 96 years old. Steven was the beloved husband of Joann Zar, his wife of 66 years, and the anchor of their family. Together they built a life marked by loyalty, hard work, and deep love.
He was the cherished father of Clark Zar (Linda), Polly Zar Waguespack (Poche), William Zar, and Kelly Zar (Mona, deceased), and the late Keith Zar. He was the proud grandfather of Brandy Fonseca (Chris), Bryan Zar (Brooke), William Zar, Jr. (Mallory), Adam Zar, Hailey Zar, and Jeffrey and the adoring great‑grandfather of Gabriel Barry, Harley Zar, and Packer Zar. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who loved him dearly.

Steven proudly served as a Tug Boat Captain with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, a career that reflected his steady nature, strong work ethic, and lifelong connection to the waterways of South Louisiana.
Above all else, Steven loved his family—his children, all children and they loved him just as fiercely in return. His loyal companion, who he loved dearly, Peppy, was always by his side, bringing him daily comfort and joy. He treasured family cruises, Sunday gatherings, and any moment spent surrounded by those he held close. A loyal Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Dodgers fan; he never missed a chance to cheer on his teams. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially poker, where his sharp mind and quiet humor always shone through.
Steven leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and family devotion. His presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
