Susan Eldness Constant

Susan Eldness Constant, age 73, of Marrero, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Susan was born in New Orleans. She was married to Gerard J. Constant for 53 years. She is the beloved mother of Gerard J. Constant, Jr. (Elizabeth). She is the loving sister of Peggy Herkender (Joseph) and the late Luther Eldness, Jr. Beloved grandmother of William G. Constant. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews Erin Percy, Miles Herkender, Maria Constant, Michael Constant, Debra Palmisano, Rebekah Entrekin, Courtney Bowlin and Clayton Constant.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents Luther and Rita Eldness.

Susan graduated from Redemptorist High School in New Orleans, Louisiana and she attended Louisiana State University at New Orleans. Susan was an administrative assistant to the Chief of Staff at Tulane Medical Center and she volunteered at Tulane Hospital Auxiliary. Susan was awarded the First Humanitarian Award for her recognition of exemplary service to patients and the healthcare community along with her dedicated spirit and genuine concern for the welfare of others. This award was also for her outstanding commitment to the humanitarian values. She also received a "Volunteer of the Year" award which shows just how amazing she was.

Susan enjoyed traveling, shopping, cooking for her family and watching sports.

Susan will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her loving family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. A visitation will begin at 8:30AM and continue until the service time.
