

Velma "Mrs. Daisy" Scott McDonald Thierry earned her wings on Thursday, June 17th, 2021 at the age of 93. She was born April 24th, 1928 in Barataria, Louisiana to the union of the late Milton and Emily Scott. She was united in marriage in 1946 to the late Joseph McDonald, Sr. and to this union one son was born,
Joseph (Eloria) McDonald Jr. of Humble, Texas. On November 12, 1955, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Herman Anthony "Rumpy" Thierry to this union three children were born, Hodges Jude (Charlene) Sr.,Yvette Ann, and the late Kim Anthony Thierry. Grandmother of eleven Genene (Rickey) Coleman, Joseph III, Phillip McDonald of Humble, Texas, Lasheeda (Darell) Johnson, Kim (Bonita) Landry of Arlington, Texas , Hodges (Rene) Jr., Keme of Monroe, Louisiana, Bryan (Keiara), Danette Thierry, Renata Loya, Lehman Knight, and Great grandmother of thirty three. She is survived by two sisters, Verona Tillman and Yvonne (Anthony) LaSalle, and one brother, Anthony Scott. She has four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law. She was the Godmother of five and also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends. Mrs. Daisy is preceded in death by her parents, her son, two sisters, and four brothers.
Mrs. Daisy retired from Metropolitan Development Center with 21 years of service. She was a dedicated member of The Order of Eastern Star of Hope Chapter # 17 and Emmanuel Cooper Temple #912 Orders of Elk of the World.
Pastors and members of Greater St. John Baptist Church of Barataria, Louisiana, Regular Baptist Church, neighboring churches, employees of the Department of Children and Family Services, Knights of Peter Clever, and the staff of Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care are invited to attend Funeral Services.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 3rd, 2021 at Greater St. John Baptist Church, 2823A Privateer Boulevard in Barataria, Louisiana at 10:00AM. Visitation will begin at 8:00AM. Reverend Harold Clark will officiate and interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Avenue in Gretna, Louisiana. Family and friends are invited to attend a repast after interment at O.J. Dunn Lodge #85 at 1100 Cook Street in Gretna.
