Walter Ray Burgess Sr. of Harahan departed this life on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 12:40 PM after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinson’s disease. Beloved husband of Linda Burgess for 49 years. Preceded in death by his son Walter Jr., and daughter in law Crystal. Father of Cindy (Omar) and Dianna (Sergio Sr.) Grandfather of Sergio Jr. (Michelle), Cody, Taylor, Shelby, Angel, Anthony, and Walter III. Beloved son of the late Walter Horace Burgess and Bevie Burgess. Son in law of the late Vera Gomez. Brother of Brenda (Steve), Cathy (Dennis), and Linda. Brother in law of Wayne (Jane) and Toddy (Karen). Preceded in death by many aunts and uncles. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Former employee of Avondale Shipyards for 13 years. He was the Owner of Hydraulic Fabrication and Maintenance for the past 36 years. He was a licensed private pilot and proud skydiver.
A Funeral Service will be held at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 3:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery. Express condolences at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
