Wiltz Joseph “Poppy” Champagne passed away on Friday, August 16, 2013. He was 80. Beloved husband of Betty Champagne of 56 years. Father of Rusty Champagne, Karen Borras, Rory Champagne, and Roxanne Granier. Grandfather of Jamie Borras, Kaycee Donnaud, Chad Borras, Samantha Champagne, Hailey Champagne, Megan Coker, Bryce Granier, Amanda Mautemps, and Adam Allday. Great-Grandfather of Tyler Donnaud, Jayce Donnaud, Payton Borras, Zoey Coker, and Ethan Mautemps. Brother of Walter Champagne, Jr., Allen Champagne, and the late Maxine King and Gertrude Faucheaux. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Anna Champagne. He was an U.S. Air Force Veteran and retired from Avondale Shipyard after 45 years. More importantly, he was an avid LSU Tigers fan and hunter. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial from St. Mark Catholic Church, Ama, on Tuesday Afternoon, August 20, 2013 at 1:00. Visitation will begin at 11:00 in the morning. Interment will follow in St. Charles Mausoluem, Luling. Westside LEITZ-EAGAN in charge of arrangments.
