

He is survived by his father, Maurice Kortick; son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Alexis Kortick; his son, Joseph Kortick; sister and brother-in-law, Sid and Kim Stein; and two nieces, Gabriella Stein and Kallie Brown. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Beau and his many close friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Simone Simowitz Kortick and his grandparents, Harry and Rose Simowitz and Joseph and Katherine Kortick.
Alan was born in Atlanta but has been a resident of Augusta since he was an infant. He was the owner of the Downtown Pawn Shop on Broad Street. He was a proud member of Adas Yeshurun Synagogue and his Thursday night dinner group. He loved listening to live music, teaching workout classes, sports, poker, and WWE. More than anything, he loved being a dad to his twin boys.
He was a kind and gentle man who always put others first and helped anyone he could. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The funeral was held Monday, June 9th at Magnolia Cemetery with Rabbi David Sirull officiating. Pallbearers were Maurice Kortick, Harry Kortick, Joseph Kortick, Sid Stein, Fred Daitch, Mark Weinberger, Harris Fogel, Matt Butler, and Mark Ghingold.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society or Canine Pawsibilities in Augusta, GA or a charity of your choice.
A graveside service for Alan will be held Monday, June 9, 2025 from 1:00 PM at Magnolia Cemetery, 702 Third Street, Augusta, Ga 30901.
