Mrs. Barreto was born in Duisburg, Germany but had lived in Augusta for many years. She was the family backbone, strong and fierce yet kind and nurturing. Her smiling face, artistic skills and love for her family will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters, Natalie Barreto and Isabel Hooper; her grandchildren, Daniela Marion Weeks, Elise Nicole Thomas, Alexanna (Alex) Thomas and Anja Natalia Hendrickson.
Per her wishes, her body will be cremated and her ashes returned to her homeland of Germany at a later date.
