Betty Dixon Long

Mrs. Long was born to the late John and Mary Dixon of Pensacola, Florida. She was a daughter of God who was passionate about missions and serving others. She was a former member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for 65 years in Pensacola, FL and locally was a member of Abilene Baptist Church for the last 14 years. She was a devoted choir member and any time the church doors were open, she was at church. She knew the importance of sharing God’s word and telling people about Jesus. Mrs. Long was a gardener, loved her flowers and cooking. Mrs. Long also loved studying her family’s history and learning about her genealogy.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Long is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Long of 59 years; daughter, Donna Miller; sisters, Amy Gladys Calkins and Rennie Rae Berquist; and great-granddaughter, Miranda Claire Weaver. Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Lepley (Ed) and Karen Farmer (Don); brother, JW Dixon, Jr. (Nel); sister, Mary Dixon Officer; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Monday, January 16, 2023 at the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Abilene Baptist Church Cemetery.
