

Mrs. Beulah Ivey Poulsen, the widow of James W. Poulsen, entered into rest on April 28, 2016. Graveside services will be held Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 1pm at Magnolia Cemetery with Reverend Greg Hatfield from Trinity-on-The-Hill United Methodist Church officiating.
Survivors include sister, Hazel Herrington (G. Stanley Sr.); other family members, Stan Herrington Jr., Stephen Herrington, Charles Smiley (Linda), Tom Blinten (Francine), Connie Miller, Charles Smiley, Jr. (Lizabeth), Stan Herrington III (Heather), Ben Herrington (Mona), Lisa Harris (Glenn), Ashley Herrington Smith (Benjamin), Ivey Blinten, Claire Blinten, Kaylee Strange, Summer Harris, Will Harris, Erin Smiley, Ivey Herrington, Alyssa Herrington, Avery Herrington, Ben Herrington Jr., and Eric Smiley.
Beulah is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.K. Ivey, Sr.; 2 sisters, Margaret Blinten and Eulalie Smiley; 1 brother, Tommie Ivey, and nephew Jerry Blinten.
A native of Augusta, GA, Beulah held executive positions with the U.S. Federal Government and Civil Service. A world traveler, she attended Tubman High School, Augusta College, UGA, University of California, Sebourn in Paris, France and Accounting School in Indianapolis, IN., Fink Business School, School of Fashion Modeling in NY and Dysart Modeling School of Augusta, GA. Beulah was a member of St. John Methodist Church. She was an outstanding leader and worker who volunteered at University Hospital, Ft. Gordon, GA, and Georgia War Nursing Home. Most recently she volunteered at the VA Hospital of Augusta in the Chief of Patient Advocacy and Community Resources Department. She was elected to serve on VAVS Executive Committee and elected as Chairperson. She also worked on the board to assist the blind and she taught many adults to read and write using the Laubach method.
Beulah belonged to the following organizations: Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Omicron, Theta Exemplar, Preceptor Theta Sorority, XI Theta Sorority Rosemary Chapter 158 Eastern Star, Friendship Court of Amaranth, SC. Unity Court order of the Amaranth Georgia, Magnolia Ct. SC, Faith Shrine #2 Augusta, Acasia Temple Daughter of the Nile, Rainbow Girls, International Supreme Shrine, Royal Matron and Patron Club, Disabled American Veterans Aux. #10, American Legion Aux #63, Southern States for Order of Shrine, National Amaranth Club, Good Will Club of SC, Spanish American War Aux, WWI Aux, WWII Aux, Daughter of 98 Aux Guild of Organist, Business and Professional Woman’s Club, Junior League, Y A C, Army Officers Wives Club and League of Women’s Voters, Federal Employee Organization, CSRA, and Widow and Widowers Club.
Beulah was a gifted and talented musician, playing the piano, organ and harp, as well as vocal. Opera was very dear to her and she was also a fashion model. She has received many awards, plaques, trophies and citations. Not only from organizations has she belonged, but from other Corporations, Businesses, and Hospitals throughout the United States. She was truly amazing, vibrant, intelligent, energetic, and a compassionate person who always thought of others before herself. She was a true Christian who loved the Lord. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
