Carolyn Meads

Carolyn Elizabeth King Meads, 91, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 18, 2023. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Gene Brady Meads, Sr., her mother Alice Darden King, her father, William Herschel King, her sister, Joyce King Taylor and her daughter, Meredith Louise Meads.

Mrs. Meads is survived by her sister Bert Hulsey. She is also survived by her children, Caralynne Meads Gill(John), Gena Meads Griffin(Jim), Beth Meads Loyal, Gene Brady Meads, Jr., Rebecca Meads Birchfield(Nancy), and Leah Meads Hofstadter(John) and her grandchildren, Michael Massaro, Kara Jones, Verena Ruiz, Serene McEntyre, Dahn Jump, Hope Treadwell, Frank Griffin, Ginnie Simpson, Lauren Fofanova, Marian Heaven, Ray Loyal, Zachary Meads, Marty Malone, Beth Hofstadter and many greatgrandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren.

She was born Carolyn Elizabeth King in Union Point, Georgia on December 26, 1931. She graduated from Union Point High School and worked for many years in retail management.

Mrs. Meads was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she was a dedicated member of the choir for many years. She was known for her wonderful cooking and passed her knowledge and recipes down to her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday March 23 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1305 Troupe St., Augusta, GA. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
