

Doris Reynolds Simon, 87, passed away on May 4, 2013. She was born the youngest child on May 15, 1925 to Henry J. and Willie Reid Reynolds in Treutlen County, GA. She is preceded in death not only by her parents but also daughter, Carol Rothrock; brothers, Joseph and J.H. Reynolds; sisters, Susie Hardy and Hazel Calloway, half-sister Carrie Davis; half-brothers Carl, Robert, Harvey, and Otha Reynolds and her devoted husband of 63 years, Henry Simon. After attending Soperton High and Business Training Institute (Macon, Ga) she went to work for the government at Warner Robins Air Force Base. She married Henry in 1949 and they moved to Augusta where she continued her civil service employment at Fort Gordon. Her employment continued for 42 years with the government and upon retiring she become employed by contractors Pan Am and Johnson Controls. While employed by Pan Am, Doris and her husband took advantage of being airline employees and were able to travel the world. She finally stopped working at age 72 to enjoy retirement. Doris served as Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Rosemary Chapter #158 and was a member of the Congregation Children of Israel and the Sisterhood. Survivors include a sister, Mazie Hawkins, three daughters, Lynn Fleischer (Arthur), Sandi Johnson (Frank) and Julie Callandt (Nicholas), one son, David Simon, 10 grandchildren, Ashley Rothrock Bass (Charles), Braden Fleischer (Jennifer), Christopher Rothrock (Erin), Matthew Butler (Kimberly), Daniel Johnson, Jared Fleischer, Brent Butler, Amy Fleischer, Jimmy Johnson (Courtney), and Colton Mingledorff, one great-grandchild, Orion Bass and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces/nephews. Graveside services will be held at 3 PM Friday, May 10, 2013 in Westover Memorial Cemetery, 2601 Wheeler Road with Rabbi Robert Klensin officiating. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. A gathering of remembrance will be conducted by Deacon Albert Sullivan at Elliott Sons Funeral Home 4255 Columbia Road, Martinez, GA on Saturday, May 11 at 1 PM where family will receive visitors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice .
